What is RDA? [Back to Top]

“Remote Digital Assistant” or RDA allows you as the customer to connect to one of our technician's PCs to receive assistance through interactive communication. What this means is that you can allow our technicians to control you PC for troubleshooting purposes. Throughout this process our technicians can control your PC as if they were sitting at your desk. Once your session begins you will be able to disconnect at any time. This gives you, the user, full control over what the technician can and cannot do.

How does RDA work? [Back to Top]

The Internet is like a large network of pipes with each pipe interconnecting with each other. With RDA we can create a secure dedicated pipe from your PC to one of our technician's. This is accomplished with the aid of a program called VNC (Virtual Network Computing), a software package allowing remote network access to graphical desktops. With VNC you can access a machine from anywhere provided that a broadband Internet connection is available. VNC has the ability to go through firewalls, routers, and other devices without having to disable them, leaving your network vulnerable. This allows your computer to stay protected from outside sources while the connection is established.

Where can I download RDA? [Back to Top]

RDA can be downloaded at our “Downloads” page or directly at T6Remote.exe

How do I install RDA? [Back to Top]

Once you have downloaded the installation file you will have to run it. When you run the program you will be asked if you would like to “Run” or “Cancel”, you will want to select “Run”

Next it will ask you what location you wish to install the program, by default it will install to “C:\Program Files\ T6 Tools”. If you wish you can change that location.
Then click the “Install” button.

Once the installation is complete click the “Close” button.

RDA is now installed on your computer. To run the program click the “Start” button on you task bar then click “Programs”, then “T6Tools”, and finally “T6Remote”.

When you first try to run RDA if you have the windows firewall active you will be prompted with a menu asking if you want to “Keep Blocking”, “Unblock', or “Ask Me Later”.
Click “Unblock” to allow RDA to access the Internet.

How do I change my password? [Back to Top]

In order for VNC to allow you to connect to our technicians you must first change the default password. For our purposes we will be using the password “password”.

If you have not entered a new password you will get an error message stating, “Until you set a password, WinVNC will not accept incoming connections.” If this is the case repeat the previous step.

How do I connect with a T6B technician? [Back to Top]

By now you should have installed VNC and changes the password. To start a connection you will need to right click the icon on your task bar, near your clock, that is a big black “V' and select “Add New Client”

Once you have selected “Add New Client” a new window will open asking you to enter in the “Host Name”, for that you will enter in “tech(#).t6b.com” and then click the “OK” button. You should now be connected to one of our technicians. (***The “(#)” will be the tech number that is given to you by one of our technicians)

Is RDA secure? [Back to Top]

RDA uses the program VLC. VLC encrypts the password sent over the Internet, but other information sent is not. To avoid issues, do not allow access to anything you do not wish to be sent over the Internet. All data that is viewed by our technicians is confidential and will not be disclosed to outside persons.
